Gallery Showcases Furniture Designer

Sometimes it takes looking beyond a furniture store to find the perfect pieces to furnish your home. In fact, if the look you are thinking of is sleek, graceful and functional a stop at the Ferry Building Gallery might be in order. That’s were, until Fev 14th, West Vancouver artist and furniture designer Greg Metz work is on exhibit. Metz, who grew up on the North Shore and graduated from the Furniture Design and Construction project at Sheridan College in Ontario, creates pieces intended to complement their architectural setting.

Many of them, made in all types of wood, incorporate arches and curves into their design.

Metz does most of his work for private clients and during APEC he created a console table to sit in the executive offices of the heads of state at the event.

But he also likes to design flexible, multi-functional pieces — perfectly suited for many of the smaller apartments sprouting up all over the North Shore. The exibition is titled By Design and his pieces site alongside the paintings of North Shore artist Joan Skeet. The gallery is located at 1414 Argyle Ave in West Vancouver and is open from 11am until 5pm escept Monday. Admission is free.
